Pre-treatment
Before manufacturing stainless steel pipe fittings, the raw materials must first be pre-treated. This is a crucial step in ensuring product quality. Pre-treatment typically includes cleaning, trimming, peeling, and polishing. Cleaning removes surface dirt and grease, resulting in a smooth and clean surface; trimming and peeling cut the raw materials into standard lengths and specifications for further processing and shaping; polishing improves the finish and aesthetics of the product, eliminating surface defects and scratches.
Cutting
Cutting refers to cutting the pre-treated raw materials to the specified size. This is usually done using mechanical shearing or sawing until the appropriate length and diameter are obtained. These malleable raw materials, easily forged and shaped, become the essential components for manufacturing the stainless steel pipe fittings.
Shaping
Depending on the specifications and dimensions of the stainless steel pipe fittings to be produced, two different forming methods can be used:
1. Press Forming
This forming method is suitable for producing large quantities of relatively small stainless steel pipe fittings. Press forming refers to applying pressure to one end of a stainless steel pipe and a forming mold under high pressure to further shape the pipe, pressing its edges into a specific shape to facilitate subsequent welding.
2. Cold heading
This forming method is suitable for larger stainless steel pipe fittings. Cold heading involves placing one end of a stainless steel pipe into a forming mold at room temperature, and then cold-forging it using the mold and a hammer to deform it into a pipe with an outer edge contour.
Processing
After forming, the two pipes need to be processed together into a complete stainless steel pipe fitting. The main processing work is welding the joint between the two pipes. After welding, subsequent processing work such as wire drawing or polishing is required to improve its surface finish.
Inspection and Testing
After manufacturing, inspection and testing are carried out. Inspection involves visual and internal checks of the stainless steel pipe fitting to ensure that its surface is flat, free of obvious defects, and that internal channels are unobstructed. Testing is conducted in accordance with national or industry standards, including pressure tests and stress tests.
